The Angina Center of Evansville is one of the tri-state area's only medical facilities offering Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP®) therapy. EECP is the next wave of angina therapy in the Evansville area and provides a potential treatment path for angina patients who have proven unresponsive to other angina treatments, such as medications, angioplasty, stent procedures and coronary artery bypass graft ("open heart") surgery.
The Angina Center of Evansville is an outpatient treatment facility that utilizes state-of-the-art technology in its approach to patient care. It is located in Evansville at 1400 Professional Boulevard, at the main office of Ohio Valley HeartCare, one of the tri-state area's leading cardiology and cardiovascular surgery practices.
Medical Director:
Dr. Phillip H. Behrens, M.D. is the medical director of The Angina Center of Evansville. Born and raised in Evansville, this University of Evansville graduate attended medical school at the University of Kentucky. He returned to the Hoosier state to complete his internship and residency at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He then completed a cardiology fellowship at the University of Florida.
Dr. Behrens is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He specializes in clinical cardiology and cardiovascular research. He resides in Newburgh with his wife, Cindy, and their three children.
Center Director:
Joe Winterman, R.N., ACLS is the director of The Angina Center of Evansville. Before joining The Angina Center of Evansville, Joe was a critical care nurse in the intensive care unit of Evansville-based St. Mary's Medical Center for more than 22 years. During his tenure at St. Mary's, Joe specialized in cardiac care. He is a graduate of the St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing.
